Reviews & Your Reputation
Understand how reviews work and how Travellers and Providers can build trust through reliable, respectful interactions.
Why reviews matter
Reviews help VanLife Connect users make better-informed decisions about who they interact with. They also help reliable Travellers and Providers build a reputation over time based on completed activity on the platform.
1. How reviews work
After an eligible service booking is completed, VanLife Connect can invite the Traveller and Provider to review their experience.
Complete the booking
Reviews are connected to genuine activity on VanLife Connect rather than being general comments about someone you have not dealt with.
Rate your experience
Use the available rating and review options to reflect your experience with the service or booking.
Add useful context
A short written review can help other users understand what went well or what they should consider before booking or accepting a future request.
2. Writing a useful review
The most useful reviews are specific enough to help another user without becoming personal or exaggerated.
- Be truthful and base the review on your own experience.
- Describe relevant facts rather than making assumptions about the other person.
- Comment on communication, punctuality, reliability and the service provided where relevant.
- Keep criticism constructive and proportionate to what occurred.
- Do not include private contact details or other personal information.
- Do not use threatening, abusive, discriminatory or defamatory language.
- Do not use reviews to pressure someone over a refund, payment or dispute.
3. Building a strong Provider reputation
Providers build trust through the way they describe services, communicate and deliver what was agreed. A strong profile is useful, but consistent behaviour matters more.
- Describe your service and pricing accurately.
- Respond to booking requests and messages promptly.
- Only accept work you are able and permitted to perform.
- Arrive at the agreed place and time.
- Communicate early if circumstances change.
- Complete the service to the scope agreed in VanLife Connect.
- Handle problems professionally and keep important communication in the app.
4. Building a strong Traveller reputation
Trust works both ways. Providers also need confidence that Travellers will communicate clearly, attend bookings and deal fairly with agreed services.
- Provide enough information for the Provider to understand what you need.
- Be available at the agreed location and time.
- Respond if the Provider needs clarification before the booking.
- Give reasonable notice if your plans change.
- Do not ask a Provider to move a VanLife Connect booking or payment off-platform.
- Treat Providers and other users respectfully.
- Leave fair reviews based on what actually occurred.
5. If there is a problem with a review
A negative review is not automatically removed simply because the person receiving it disagrees with it. However, content that breaches VanLife Connect’s rules can be reported for review.
Consider whether it is simply a different view
Two people can reasonably have different views of the same booking. A critical review can still be legitimate if it reflects the user’s genuine experience.
Report content that breaches the rules
If a review contains abuse, threats, discriminatory content, private information, spam or other prohibited material, use the available reporting option.
Provide context if requested
VanLife Connect may review the booking and relevant platform activity when assessing reported content.
Reviews are only one trust signal
When deciding whether to book a service, consider the complete listing and Provider profile rather than relying on a rating alone. Service descriptions, communication, qualifications or licences where relevant, previous reviews and your own judgement all form part of the decision.
