Community Noticeboard Guide

Use the Community Noticeboard to share useful local information, ask for help and connect with travellers around your current location.

Your local traveller noticeboard

The Community Noticeboard is designed for information and conversations that are useful to travellers around a location. It can help you share a local update, ask for assistance, organise something with nearby travellers or pass on information that may help others.

Community is location-based What you see is influenced by your location and how you are using VanLife Connect. The aim is to keep the Noticeboard relevant to travellers in and around the places they are visiting.

1. How the Community Noticeboard works

1

Open Community

Use the Community area to see Noticeboard posts relevant to the location you are viewing.

2

Browse local posts

Read posts from other travellers and official VanLife Connect posts that may be useful to the wider community.

3

Use Find Around when needed

Where available, use Find Around to look beyond your immediate location and see relevant activity in the surrounding area.

Think local and useful The Noticeboard works best when posts help people who are travelling in or around the location, rather than becoming a general social-media feed.

2. Create a Community post

When you have something useful to share or ask, create a post and give other travellers enough information to understand it quickly.

1

Select Create Post

Open the Community Noticeboard and use the option to create a new post.

2

Choose the right category

Select the category that best describes what your post is about so other travellers can understand and filter the content more easily.

3

Add a clear title and description

Say what you need or what you are sharing, include the relevant location or timing, and avoid making other users guess what the post is about.

4

Add useful supporting information

Where the app allows it, add a relevant image or tag if it genuinely helps other users understand or find the post.

A useful title makes a difference “Anyone heading to Derby tomorrow?” is more useful than “Question”, while “Water outage at campground amenities” tells nearby travellers immediately why the post matters.

3. Use categories and tags

Categories organise Community posts into broad topics. Tags can add more specific context where they are available.

  • Choose the category that most closely matches the purpose of your post.
  • Use a relevant tag where available if it helps describe the topic more precisely.
  • Do not select unrelated categories or tags simply to make a post more visible.
  • Use filters when you want to narrow the Noticeboard to the type of information you are looking for.
Categories and tags may change over time VanLife Connect may refine Community categories and tags as the Noticeboard develops, so use the options shown in the current version of the app.

4. Interact with Community posts

Community is intended to make it easier for travellers to help and communicate with each other. Keep replies relevant to the original post and useful to the people involved.

  • Respond with information that is relevant to the post.
  • Be respectful when you disagree or have a different experience.
  • Do not publish another person’s private contact information.
  • Be cautious about relying on unverified information supplied by another user.
  • For emergencies or immediate safety issues, use the appropriate emergency or official service rather than relying on a Community post.

5. Community guidelines

VanLife Connect is built around practical, respectful interaction between travellers. Posts and replies should contribute to that purpose.

  • Be respectful and communicate as you would around a real campsite.
  • Keep posts genuine, relevant and reasonably accurate.
  • Do not harass, threaten, bully or discriminate against other users.
  • Do not post unlawful, dangerous, fraudulent or deliberately misleading content.
  • Do not publish private or sensitive information about another person without permission.
  • Do not spam the Noticeboard or repeatedly post the same content.
  • Do not use Community posts to avoid VanLife Connect’s service booking and payment process.
  • Follow campground, caravan park and local rules when organising activities or offering assistance.
The Community Noticeboard is not an emergency service If someone is in immediate danger or urgent assistance is required, contact the appropriate emergency service. Do not rely on a Community post being seen or answered in time.

6. Report inappropriate content or behaviour

If you see a post, reply or user behaviour that appears to breach VanLife Connect’s rules, use the available Report option rather than escalating the situation publicly.

1

Open the relevant content or profile

Use the Report option associated with the post, content or user where available.

2

Select the appropriate reason

Choose the reason that most accurately describes the issue and provide useful context if requested.

3

Let VanLife Connect review it

Reported content may be reviewed against the platform rules and appropriate action may be taken where required.

Reporting is for genuine concerns Do not use the reporting process simply because you disagree with another person’s opinion. Report content where you reasonably believe there is a breach of the platform rules or a genuine safety or conduct concern.

Community posts and paid services

The Community Noticeboard is not a substitute for the Services Marketplace. If you are offering a paid service, create and manage it through the Services area so bookings, payments, reviews and platform protections remain connected to the transaction.
