Before you list a service

A good service listing should quickly answer four questions for a Traveller: what do you offer, why should they trust you, what will it cost, and when are you available?

Think like the Traveller Clear, specific listings are easier to understand and more likely to attract suitable enquiries. Avoid vague descriptions that force Travellers to ask basic questions before they can decide whether your service is right for them.

1. Start a service listing

1

Open My VanLife

Tap My VanLife in the bottom navigation.

2

Open My Services

Tap My Services to view your available and archived service listings.

3

Add a service

Tap the + button on the Service profile screen to begin creating a new service.

Quick path My VanLife → My Services → +

2. Choose the right service category

The Add Service screen lets you search for a service or browse the available categories. Current categories include Digital & Remote Services, Domestic Services, Education Category, Personal Services, Pet Services, Trade Services and Vehicle & Van Services.

1

Search or browse

Use Search services if you know what you want to offer, or open the category that best matches your skill.

2

Select the specific service

Choose the service that most accurately describes what you intend to provide. For example, Domestic Services may include Teaching Services, Cleaning Services and Chef Hosted Dinners.

3

Confirm your selection

Tap Select Services to continue to the service profile.

Choose the closest fit Do not select a broader or more popular category simply to gain visibility. Accurate categorisation makes search and discovery more useful for everyone.

3. Build a strong service profile

The Profile tab is where you explain your service, experience and pricing. This is the main information a Traveller uses to decide whether to contact or book you.

1

Write your Service Experience & Details

Use the available description field to explain what you offer and the experience you bring to the service.

2

Be specific about the scope

State what is included, what is not included, any important limitations, and anything the Traveller needs to provide or prepare before you arrive.

3

Use the available space well

The current service description field allows up to 200 characters, so lead with the most useful information and avoid generic phrases that do not help a Traveller make a decision.

Example of stronger service copy Instead of “Experienced cleaner available”, explain the actual service: “Caravan interior cleaning including kitchen, bathroom, floors and surfaces. BYO cleaning products available if preferred. 5+ years domestic cleaning experience.”
Sell the service, not yourself Your profile already identifies who you are. Use the service description to make the offer clear: the work you perform, your relevant experience and what the Traveller can expect.

4. Choose the right pricing method

VanLife Connect lets you use either Request a Quote or Fixed Price. Choose the option that best reflects how predictable the scope of the work is.

1

Use Fixed Price for clearly defined work

Choose Fixed Price when you can state the price before the booking. Enter the amount and select the appropriate pricing unit, such as Job where relevant.

2

Use Request a Quote for variable work

Choose Request a Quote when the final price depends on the condition, size, complexity, materials or time required and you need more information first.

3

Make the price easy to understand

If using Fixed Price, make sure the description clearly explains what the stated price covers so the Traveller is not surprised later.

Avoid under-pricing just to appear cheaper Set a price that reflects the time, skill, travel, equipment and any materials involved, while remembering that the VanLife Connect commission and Stripe processing fees are deducted from the Provider payout.

5. Add useful service images

Images can make a service more credible and easier to understand, especially where the quality of the work can be shown visually.

1

Tap Add in the Image section

Choose an image that genuinely represents the service you offer.

2

Add more than one image where useful

Use additional images to show different examples of the service, equipment, finished work or relevant experience rather than repeating the same type of photo.

3

Describe each image

Use the photo description field to explain what the image shows and why it is relevant to the service. The current field allows up to 200 characters.

Use real, relevant images Photos of your actual work, setup or equipment are generally more useful than generic stock images. Do not upload images you do not have permission to use.

6. Add qualifications, licences and insurance

Where relevant, credentials can help Travellers assess whether you are suitable for the work. The service profile allows you to add certificates and insurance information.

1

Add certificates or qualifications

In the Certificate section, tap Add + and upload documents relevant to the service you are offering. You can add more than one document.

2

Add relevant insurance

In the Insurance section, tap Add + and enter the insurer name, policy number, coverage type and expiry date, then upload the supporting policy image or document.

3

Keep credentials current

Remove outdated documents and update policies or licences when they expire or change.

Only upload credentials relevant to the service A trade licence, first-aid qualification or public liability policy can strengthen a listing where it is relevant. Unrelated documents add clutter rather than trust.
You remain responsible for compliance Uploading a document to VanLife Connect does not replace your responsibility to hold any licence, registration, qualification or insurance legally required for the work you perform.

7. Save the service, then set your schedule

The service profile must be saved before you can publish it through the Schedule tab.

1

Tap Add Service

When your profile, price, images and relevant credentials are complete, tap Add Service to save the service profile.

2

Open the Schedule tab

After the profile has been saved, use the Schedule tab to manage when the service can be published and made available.

3

Activate it where you are available

Keep the service available only when you are genuinely able to provide it. VanLife Connect also lets you choose which of your saved services to activate when you check in at a location.

Save first, publish second If the Schedule tab tells you to save the service profile first, return to Profile, complete the listing and tap Add Service before trying to publish it.

8. Final check before making your service available

  • Is the service category accurate?
  • Does the description clearly explain what you offer and your relevant experience?
  • Are the scope and exclusions clear?
  • Is Fixed Price or Request a Quote the right pricing method?
  • If Fixed Price, is the pricing unit clear?
  • Have you added useful, relevant images and descriptions?
  • Have you uploaded relevant qualifications, licences or insurance where appropriate?
  • Are all documents current?
  • Are you actually available to perform the service at the locations where you activate it?
  • Does the listing comply with local laws and campground or caravan park rules?
Strong listings reduce friction A Traveller should be able to understand your service, assess your credibility and decide whether to contact or book you without needing to ask what the listing really means.
