Before you start

Your VanLife Connect profile and account settings control how your information appears in the app, how you receive important communications and which features are available to you.

Your private contact details are not displayed to other users Your email address and mobile number are used for your account and verification. Travellers and Providers communicate through VanLife Connect’s in-app chat.

1. Manage your profile

Open your User Profile from My VanLife to review or update the information other travellers use to recognise you.

1

Open Personal Details

Review your name, profile photo, bio and other personal information shown in your account.

2

Keep your details current

Update information if your contact details or profile information changes.

3

Complete your profile progressively

You can add more information over time. A clear photo and short description help other travellers understand who they are interacting with.

2. Understand account verification

VanLife Connect separates basic account verification from Provider payment verification.

1

Email verification

Your email address is verified during account creation using a one-time code.

2

Mobile verification

Add and verify your mobile number when required for in-app chat or other sensitive actions.

3

Provider verification

If you choose to offer paid services, Stripe completes the identity and payment onboarding required for Provider payouts.

You do not need Government ID simply to use Community or Travel Mates Provider identity requirements apply through Stripe when you set up to offer paid services and receive payouts.

3. Manage your privacy controls

Some privacy controls are managed inside VanLife Connect and others are controlled directly by your phone.

  • Location permissions can be enabled, limited or disabled through your device settings.
  • Background location access can be changed if you do or do not want Smart Arrival to detect arrivals when the app is not open.
  • Push notifications can be enabled or disabled through your device settings.
  • Marketing emails can be unsubscribed from using the unsubscribe link in the email.
  • You can request access to, correction of or deletion of personal information held by VanLife Connect.
Changing permissions can affect app features For example, disabling location access may prevent Smart Arrival from working, while disabling notifications may mean you miss booking, chat or arrival alerts.

4. Manage password and account access

1

Forgotten password

Use the Forgot Password option on the login screen and follow the reset instructions sent to your registered email address.

2

Changing account details

Update your personal details through your account where the option is available. Changes to verified contact details may require you to verify the new email address or mobile number.

3

Keep your account secure

Do not share your login details. Each traveller should use their own VanLife Connect account.

5. Provider details and Stripe

If you decide to offer paid services, your User Profile includes an Offer Services pathway for Provider setup.

1

Start Provider setup

Choose Offer Services from your profile when you are ready to become a Provider.

2

Complete Stripe onboarding

Stripe securely collects the information required for identity verification and Provider payments.

3

Manage relevant Provider information

Add any ABN, GST, qualification, licence or insurance information required for the services you offer.

Stripe information is handled separately Stripe processes payment and identity-verification information under its own systems and privacy obligations. VanLife Connect receives the account and status information needed to operate the Provider payment flow.

6. Delete your account

If you no longer want to use VanLife Connect, you can request deletion of your account.

1

Resolve outstanding activity first

If you have active bookings, disputes, services or pending payments, deal with these before deleting your account.

2

Open Delete Account

Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account and follow the confirmation steps.

3

Understand what deletion means

Deleting your account removes access to your account, booking history, reviews and account content. Some information may still need to be retained where required for legal, regulatory, safety, fraud-prevention or audit purposes.

Account deletion cannot restore your old history If you create a new account later, deleted bookings, reviews and other account history will not be restored.
