Profiles help travellers make more informed choices about who they connect with, book or meet on the road.

Every VanLife Connect user has a profile that may include photos, personal information, reviews and other relevant details they choose to provide. This gives you more context before deciding to connect, book a service or meet in person.

VanLife Connect is built around respectful and responsible participation. Misleading information, harassment, unsafe conduct or repeated complaints may result in restrictions or removal from the platform.

Some features may require identity information or additional details. Profile badges and indicators provide useful context, but should not be taken as a guarantee of a person’s identity, qualifications, skills or conduct.

For profile setup and verification information, see our FAQ.

Location information helps show relevant services, community updates and your existing Travel Mates connections when you arrive somewhere new.

Smart Arrival™ uses location information to recognise when you arrive at a supported location and bring relevant information for that stay into the app.

Your location is not automatically visible to everyone on VanLife Connect. Where a feature allows location or proximity information to be shared with other users, you remain in control of the relevant visibility and privacy settings.

You can manage location permissions through your device settings. Turning location access off may limit location-based features such as Smart Arrival™.

Different VanLife Connect features may use location information differently. For full details about how location information is collected, used, stored and shared, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

For help with location settings and Smart Arrival™, see our FAQ.

Connecting with other travellers can be one of the best parts of life on the road, but meeting in person always involves personal judgement.

When meeting someone for the first time, consider:

• Meeting in public or well-known places where possible
• Letting a friend or family member know where you are going
• Using in-app messaging before sharing personal contact details
• Taking your time and trusting your judgement

You are never obligated to proceed with an interaction that does not feel right. If something feels off, prioritise your safety and disengage.

VanLife Connect does not supervise in-person interactions. Each user remains responsible for their own safety and decisions.

If something feels unsafe, misleading or inappropriate, you can report the content or user directly within the app.

Reports may relate to behaviour, listings, messages, community content, suspicious activity, child safety concerns or other platform safety issues. Reports are reviewed and, where appropriate, action may include warnings, restrictions, content removal, account suspension or account removal.

VanLife Connect has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), grooming, exploitation of minors or unlawful content involving children. Serious concerns may be escalated to relevant authorities or information preserved for investigation where required.

Reporting concerns helps protect the wider VanLife Connect community.

For more information, including our Child Safety Standards, please refer to the FAQ and Child Safety Standards pages.
