What are verification badges and what do they mean?

Verification badges are visual trust indicators shown on profiles to help users understand what information has been provided or verified through the platform.

User Profile Badges

These badges relate to the identity and trust status of the individual user.

• ID Verified
The user has completed identity verification through Stripe as part of the Stripe Connect onboarding process required for Service Providers. This verification is required before a Provider can accept bookings or receive payouts.
Non-Providers may also choose to complete an optional Stripe Identity verification process to receive the same higher-level “ID Verified” badge.

• ID Provided
The user has uploaded a government-issued identification document to their profile. This is required for Travellers who want to book services or use the Travel Mates feature. The document is stored securely, but it is not independently verified by VanLife Connect.

• Campfire Score
A colour-coded trust and reliability indicator displayed as a campfire icon:
• Green = strong reputation and reliability
• Amber = moderate reputation or minor issues
• Red = lower ratings, repeated cancellations, disputes or reliability concerns

The Campfire Score combines factors such as reviews, booking completion history, cancellations, disputes and overall platform behaviour to help users assess trustworthiness at a glance.

Service Profile Badges

These badges relate specifically to services being offered by a Provider.

• Licence Provided
The Provider has uploaded a trade, professional licence or certification relevant to the services they offer (for example an electrician’s licence or plumbing licence). VanLife Connect does not independently verify whether licences are valid, current or suitable for the work being performed.

• Insured
The Provider has uploaded proof of insurance relevant to their services, such as public liability insurance. This badge indicates that an insurance document has been provided through the app, but VanLife Connect does not independently verify coverage, currency or policy terms.

Badges are designed to provide transparency and help users make informed decisions when interacting on the platform. Badge status may change over time if documents expire, are removed, verification fails, or account standing changes.

Users should always review profiles carefully and make their own enquiries where appropriate before engaging services or meeting in person.
