From the Founder Why we built VanLife Connect The campsite moment that started it all. |
Two years on the road. 35,000 kilometres. And the same thing kept happening at every campsite. Surrounded by good people, with no easy way to actually meet them. VanLife Connect started as a fix for that quiet problem. A free app that tells you who’s around, what’s on, and who can lend a hand, the moment you pull up. |
Earn anywhere Offer your skills and earn on the road. | Help on the road Get or give help with trusted locals. | Community See what’s on and join local events. | Connection Find travellers nearby and stay in touch. |
|
|
| |
Join the Community Join the VanLife Connect Community We’ve started a Facebook community for travellers following along, swapping ideas and helping shape the app before it launches. Come and say hello, ask a question, or tell us what you’d want VanLife Connect to do on the road. The Page is where we post official updates. The Group is where the conversation happens. |
☼ AI on the Road |

AI can troubleshoot your van problems Stuck far from a mechanic? Take a photo, ask the right question, and AI can walk you through diagnosing common caravan and camping issues step by step. From water pump problems and solar readings to gas appliances and 12V electrics. It won’t replace a sparkie or a fitter, but it’ll often get you back on the road, or at least narrow the problem down before you call one. | New to AI? A beginner friendly guide for Australian travellers. ✓ No tech jargon ✓ Step by step examples ✓ 50 ready to use prompts ✓ Works on your phone Start using AI with confidence today. |

Gear Worth Knowing About This Month’s Pick iCheck TPMS Tyre Pressure Monitor A TPMS that lives on your valve caps and pings your phone the second a tyre starts losing pressure or running hot. |
|
It’s the kind of bit of kit you don’t think you need until the day you’re glad you had it, especially before a long stretch of dirt or a remote run. |
Why it matters on the road: ✓ Detects slow leaks before they become blowouts ✓ Helps extend tyre life and improves fuel efficiency ✓ Alerts you in real time, no guessing ✓ Essential for caravans, camper trailers and 4WDs ✓ Peace of mind on long stretches and remote roads |

What’s On the Road Timely travel updates to help you plan ahead. |
Road Conditions Top End wet season is winding down The dry has settled in across the north and the big routes are open. Gibb River Road, Cape York and the Kakadu inner tracks are back online, with June and July the sweet spot before the peak crowds. Conditions still shift fast, so check road status with the relevant state authority before committing to dirt. |
|
Seasonal Whale migration starting up the east coast If you’re tracking north along the NSW or QLD coast through June and July, the lookouts at Cape Byron, Hervey Bay and Point Lookout start paying off. The humpbacks are already moving through. |
|
⚠ Active Alert Heading inland? Check road and park status first Winter rain can flood inland rivers and close outback parks and tracks across western NSW and northern SA with little warning. If you’re heading remote, check current road and park status with the relevant state authority before you leave, and never chance a flooded crossing. |
|
| |
Worth the Detour A few places worth adding to the list for your next stretch of road. |
WA · Pilbara | Karijini National Park Gorges, waterfalls, red dirt roads and some of the best outback scenery in Australia. ⚠ Dingo warning at Dales Campground. Secure food and supervise children. Explore → |
| NSW · Outback | Mungo National Park Ancient landscapes, incredible sunsets and a quiet outback experience unlike anywhere else. Explore → |
| TAS · South | Bruny Island Fresh seafood, easy day drives and some of the best road touring south of Hobart. Explore → |

Earn on the Road The services travellers actually pay for There’s a quiet group of nomads out there making decent pocket money doing small, low-effort services for other travellers at the campsite. Dog minding while someone heads into town. A quick haircut. A relaxing massage after a long drive. Tech help for someone who can’t get their phone or laptop to behave. A weekend caravan wash for the people on a long stay. Travellers nearby would rather pay another traveller for an hour of their time than chase it down in town. If you’ve got the willingness, the work finds you. When the VanLife Connect Services Marketplace goes live, this is exactly the kind of work travellers will list, and book, straight from the app. |
| Easy Services to Get Started (No Big Setup Required) | |
| Dog Minding | Hairdressing | Massage | Tech Help | Caravan Washing |
